Is Your Business "April 6th Ready"? Five 1-Hour Training Sprints to Safeguard Your Company in 2026

It is currently March 2026, which means we are entering the critical countdown to the April 6th "Day One" statutory changes. The landmark Employment Rights Act 2025 is moving from theoretical guidance to enforced law.

If your HR team is still relying on policies drafted in 2024, or if your line managers still believe they have a "two-year buffer" before unfair dismissal becomes a risk, your organisation is exposed.

In a high-pressure, post-pandemic world—particularly within highly-stressed sectors—compliance is no longer about checking a box. It’s about protecting your people, your operations, and your bottom line.

To help you navigate this transition, we have launched five, high-impact 1-Hour Training Sprints, meticulously designed for Q2 2026 implementation.

The Q2 2026 Compliance Calendar

Our training focuses on the critical deadlines converging on your business right now.

Sprint 1: The "Day One" Compliance Sprint

Focus: Critical operational changes coming into effect on 6 April 2026. This is the most urgent course in our sessions. If your payroll or family leave policies have not been updated since last winter, you are non-compliant as of next month.

  • Key Focus: Implementing SSP from Day 1 (no more 3-day waiting period); navigating new Day 1 family leave rights; and understanding the whistleblowing changes that classify sexual harassment as a qualifying disclosure.
  • Who Must Attend: HR, Payroll Managers, and Senior Operations Leadership.

Sprint 2: The 6-Month Probation Strategy

Focus: Risk mitigation ahead of the reduction in unfair dismissal qualifying periods. While the 6-month qualifying period for unfair dismissal protection doesn't fully activate until January 1, 2027, any employee hired after July 1, 2026, will be covered.

  • Key Focus: Learn how to build a robust Month 5 performance matrix to make "keep or let go" decisions before the new uncapped compensation risk applies.
  • Who Must Attend: All People Managers and Team Leaders.

Sprint 3: Trauma-Informed Attendance (FARM)

Focus: Modernising the Formal Attendance Review Meeting. This course is vital for firms interested in trauma-informed practices. We move beyond simply monitoring presence to understanding the wellness drivers of absence.

  • Key Focus: Moving from "Why were you away?" to "What is happening and what support do you need?" This workshop integrates the new Day 1 SSP rights with supportive, trauma-aware action plans.
  • Who Must Attend: Line Managers, Welfare Officers, and HR Generalists.

Sprint 4: "All Reasonable Steps" (Anti-Harassment)

Focus: Preparing for the tougher legal standard coming in October 2026. By October, the old standard of "taking reasonable steps" to prevent harassment is abolished. You must now take "all reasonable steps." Critically, your liability will extend to harassment from third parties (e.g., customers or the public).

  • Key Focus: Creating robust third-party control systems, ensuring an effective "Active Bystander" culture, and ensuring that no NDAs are used for harassment cases (a 2026 prohibition).
  • Who Must Attend: Senior Management, HR, and Health & Safety Officers.

Sprint 5: Martyn’s Law (Protect Duty) Readiness

Focus: Compliance with the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025. If your business operates a premises with a capacity of 200+ (Standard Tier) or 800+ (Enhanced Tier), you have immediate responsibilities.

  • Key Focus: Identifying the legally liable "Responsible Person," implementing mandatory staff training like lockdown procedures and "Run, Hide, Tell," and preparing for enforcement by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
  • Who Must Attend: Facilities Managers, Event Security leads, and Legal/Risk Officers.

Why These Sprints Matter in 2026

The Employment Rights Act 2025 isn't just a set of new rules; it is a fundamental shift in how the employer-employee relationship is managed. The financial and reputational penalties for non-compliance are now significantly higher.

Your leadership team can no longer afford to delay. These intensive 60-minute sessions are designed to give you maximum clarity and actionable protocols with minimal operational disruption.
